One of the most wonderful places I have ever been to during 5,5 years permanent living in the Western Cape of South Africa is the Robertson Small Hotel in Robertson. In a bit over an hour drive from Cape Town you are in a complete different world, and this place to stay is heaven; beautiful rooms, lush garden, refreshing pool, spa area (hello massage and pedi!) and delicious food. What else do you wish for? Oh, off street parking, laundry service, stylish interior and luxury bathrooms, picnic baskets on requests, free WIFI, located in the center of Robertson and not far from all the Breede River valley wineries. Scroll down for more.
How pretty is the entrance and the interior of the Robertson Small? We’ve been here two times and both times I was surprised how at home I felt just after a few minutes.

Lovely beds… with half open bathrooms (that can be closed too if you prefer so)

Reuben’s restaurant was the restaurant of The Robertson Small for many years, but recently it changed into ‘The Small Restaurant’, managed by Head Chef Tiaan van Greunen. The menu was written by Rose Ashby of the esteemed Spring Restaurant at Somerset House in London. In The Small Restaurant you can have breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is possible for both hotel guests as guests from outside to come and enjoy the food.

Conclusion: I highly recommend The Robertson Small if you are looking for a special intimate place to stay, with eye for detail, luxury and style. Robertson and the Breede River Valley is great countryside and there are many good wineries to visit. What is also fun to do is a river cruise including picnic.
