After my dinner two weeks ago at Mo-Zam-Bik restaurant in Ballito (KZN) I will be spoiled forever when it comes to Portugese peri-peri prawns. At Mo-Zam-Bik you just eat The Best Peri-Peri Prawns, Ever! No discussion. I (day)dreamed about having this meal again several times already after our evening here. OK, both the food and the restaurant don’t look that fancy, and it may not be very special or fine dining, but to prepare the perfect grilled Queen prawns and the most delicious peri-peri sauce, with coconut rice cooked to perfection isn’t easy. Mo-Zam-Bik, the Portugese inspired restaurant with branches in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng, just nailed it! They opened Ballito – the first restaurant – in 2005 and over the years another 7 Mo-Zam-Bik restaurants have opened, for example in Durban (Florida Road), Gateway Shopping Center (Uhmlanga) and Krugersdorp (Gauteng). With your apéritif you get a cone of tasty roasted and salted peanuts…
The menu presented on a fun wooden board. Besides their famous peri-peri prawns (which I highly recommend!) they also do grilled fish, poultry, rump, fillet, chicken liver, snails, rissoles and the most delicious garlic&cashew stuffed olives (to start with).
And there they are! The best peri-peri prawns and coconut rice I every had.. Sooooo tasty!
