In Heemstede, a picturesque lovely small city (or big village) not far from Amsterdam, you’ll find estate Groenendaal. In the middle of the forest and walking area of Heemstede, there is this lovely old but well maintained country house called Groenendaal. Nowadays it’s a restaurant, with lush garden and terrace, elegant dining and wining. Recently, on a Sunday afternoon, I went to estate Groenendaal for a delicious lazy lunch. Today I will show your more about this place.
Situated in the green heart of the forest & park around Heemstede, the environment around the restaurant and estate is one of a kind. It’s a perfect area to walk, relax or cycle before or after your visit to Groenendaal. That’s what we did upfront our lunch.
Country house Groenendaal.
Stylish and elegant table setting.
Bubbles!
We all decided to go for the 3 course lunch menu (36 euros). Starter: fillet of skate wing with scallops, cucumber and lemon.
Left: our main course; dorade fillet with risotto, mushroom, carrots and samphire. Right: The exterior of the restaurant of Groenendaal estate.
Interior design in the hallway.
Time for dessert! Apple pie with vanilla and cinnamon ice cream and chocolate mousse. Ohhh!
With espresso. What else? Oh, some delicious Belgium pralines.

*Please not: I have not been asked, paid or invited to write about Landgoed Groenendaal. It was my own idea & we paid the bill ourselves in full. All images are mine, made with a Canon EOS M camera.
