Weekend brunch at Het Warenhuis, Amsterdam

Breakfast is probably my most favourite meal of the day. Especially if it’s a bit later on the day, and a bit more than a bowl of yoghurt or a banana. A bit more a brunch-style breakfast. It’s the ultimate weekend feeling! A great place to go to for lazy brunch is Het Warenhuis (‘The Warehouse’) in the Haarlemmerstreet, in the center of Amsterdam. They serve nice coffee, tart, sandwiches, and later on the day cocktails, beers, wine, bar snacks and dinner too! Scroll down to discover more about this foodie hotspot.

The interior is hip, cosy, a bit retro and funky! I like it!

Het Warenhuis, Haarlemmerstraat, Amsterdam. Lunch Breakfast Brunch SpotShakshuka! A dish from the Middle East/North Africa; poached eggs, tomato sauce, chili peppers, cumin seeds, onion and paprika! I once (monthssss ago) shared my own shakshuka recipe with you in this blog post! You don’t see this dish often on a menu, but when it’s on I order it. This shakshuka at Het Warenhuis was very good, with her original North-Africa, Moroccan/Middle Eastern spices and taste. The brown bread was tasty, fresh and crisp too.

Besides the two dishes above we ordered, one can also have Eggs Florentine (poached eggs with spinach), Norwegian breakfast (eggs with salmon), blueberry pancakes with maple syrup, croissants with butter and jam, yoghurt and fruit, a hamburger or a sandwich with chicken or tuna. Lots of choice! Keep in mind: if you want to go for the full brunch options they are only available from 10.30. Before that time you can have croissants and jam, or fruit and yoghurt, but no eggs yet…
