On the last day of 2016 I would like to share a very special and cool day in the year with you; I went sailing with a friend, on his fast speed boat in the Atlantic around Cape Town. We went to Robben Island (great), saw 3 whales just outside the Waterfront in the bay, saw lots of seals, birds, penguins and a few dolphins. The wind through your hair, the excitement of going fast forward on the sea (scary!) and the burning South African sun, together with loud music out the speakers and a glass of wine…. MAGIC!
Table Mountain as seen from the Atlantic..
Going fast…
Far out…. towards Robben Island.
Gorgeous Cape Town with its iconic threesome: Devil’s Peak, Table Mountain & Lions Head.
When you sail ‘around the corner’, passing the Stadium, Green Point, Sea Point, towards Clifton and Camps Bay, you will enjoy great views of the 12 Apostels.
“The 12 Apostels” (mountain formation) and Clifton beach in front…
Earlier that day, seen from the other side…. Clifton 4th beach….
Beach life in Cape Town.
Another beautiful sailing boat next to us near the waterfront.
I don’t know about you, but I cannot get enough of this view.
The Facts
Cape Town is a great destination all year around, but for the ultimate summer vibe feeling I would recommend to go anytime between October and beginning of April. A friend who owns a stunning boat invited me to join him for the afternoon, but if you are not as lucky as I was that day, then book a boat trip via one of the boat companies in the Waterfront. You can book both sailing boats or catamarans, or motor boats, for example with Waterfront Charters. It is a great experience. Very different than Cape town from high up the sky, where i wrote earlier about.
